WILDERNESS & REMOTE
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Wilderness & Remote First Aid course is to provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response. This includes wilderness and remote environments, including urban disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes.
Be at least 14 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course.
Posses a current basic-level certification in adult CPR/AED certification.
Approximately 16 hours.
To successfully complete the Wilderness & Remote First Aid course, candidate must:
Successfully complete the Wilderness & Remote First Aid skills session.
Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.
Successfully complete class activities, including the required scenarios.
Demonstrate competency in all skills and scenarios.
Successfully pass final written exams with a minimum grade of 80%.
CERTIFICATE ISSUED AND VALIDITY PERIOD
Wilderness & Remote First Aid is valid for 2 years.
