Service Description
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. This program offers a choice of Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience. PREREQUISITES - Complete all Blended Learning before day one. - Be at least 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course. - Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. • Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. - Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits. - Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed. • Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Cancelation Policy
Preregistration is required for all courses, walk-ins are not permitted due to pre-course work. Full refunds will be given up to 72 hours (3 days) prior to the course start date. A 25% cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations less than 72 hours (3 days) prior to the course start date. A 50% cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations less than 24 hours prior to the course start date. NO refund will be given after course starts (to include but not limited to: failure to complete online blended learning material, failure of prerequisites, failure of course, not showing up on time, not showing to class, or disruptive behavior. However, you can take the next class FREE of charge until you successfully pass the course or the date exceeds 6 months after purchase of course. NO refund will be given for any course books or pocket masks purchased. NO refund will be given for any online only courses or fees paid directly to third party companies (ARC, AHA, etc.). A $50 service fee for all returned checks. Please arrive to class early as catching up on missed material will be hard. The doors will close at START of class and participants will be considered absent from class, no exceptions. Classes require a minimum number of participants to run. For low enrollment courses, the class will be canceled. Participants will be notified and given the choice to enroll in another upcoming course or offered a full refund.
