Lifeguard Management NYS In-Person Testing

The American Red Cross Lifeguard Management online course is designed to prepare aquatic professionals to effectively manage lifeguards and help keep patrons, staff and facilities safe. This interactive online course includes video lessons, scenario based activities and a final exam. The course includes six lessons with an increased emphasis on safety and the role of the lifeguard manager. A more practical, real-life focus is presented through photos, illustrations, motion graphics, subject matter expert testimonials and activities. The course comes with an eBook, as well as a resources section that houses videos, downloadable in-service training resources, sample forms and links to relevant websites.

NEW YORK STATE REQUIREMENTS

The New York State Department of Public Health requires individuals who wish to meet the Camp Aquatics Director for NYS Children’s Camp Bathing Facilities requirement to complete an in-person test after completing the Lifeguard Management Online Course. To participate in this in-person testing for the written exam, each participant must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Management certificate that has been completed no more than 90 days prior to the in-person testing session. Successful participants will receive a certificate that is valid for 2 years from the date of the in-person testing session. To meet the New York state requirement, participants must present the Lifeguard Management certificate and the Lifeguard Management Testing Session certificate.

CERTIFICATE ISSUED/ VALIDITY PERIOD

Lifeguard Management Testing Session and Lifeguard Management In-Person Exam is valid for 2 years.

SCHEDULE

Administered the second day of all scheduled Lifeguarding classes.
