The primary purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies.  THe courses in this program teach the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.

This program offers a choice of First Aid, CPR, and AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience.

PREREQUISITES

None.  Participants in AED-only courses must have current Red Cross CPR certification or the equivalent.

PARTICIPANTS MUST MEET ALL PREREQUISITES TO TAKE THE COURSE.

LENGTH

First Aid only: 4 hours, 12 minutes

AED only: 1 hour

CPR only: 

Adult CPR/AED: 4 hours, 26 minutes

      with First Aid:  4 hours, 54 minues

Pediatric CPR/AED:  3 hours

      with First Aid:  5 hours, 18 minutes

Adult/Pediatric CPR/AED:  3 hours

      with First Aid:  5 hours, 18 minutes

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To successfully complete the First Aid/CPR/AED course, candidate must:

  1. Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.

  2. Demonstrate competency in all required skills.

  3. Successfully complete the Putting It All Together Assessment Scenarios.

  4. Successfully pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80%. 

CERTIFICATE ISSUED/ VALIDITY PERIOD

All certification above are valid for 2 years.
