PURPOSE
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response Instructor course is to train candidates to teach the American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response course.
PREREQUISITES
Candidates must:

Be at least 16 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course.

Possesses a current basic-level certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.

Has successfully completed the online Introduction to the Emergency Medical Response Instructor Course.

Has obtained all instructor and participant materials before entering the first session of the instructor course. Materials consist of:

American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response Instructor's Manual.

American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response course presentation.
-
American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response DVD.
-
American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response textbook.

Has successfully completed the precourse skill session.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To successfully complete the Emergency Medical Response Instructor course, candidate must:

Successfully complete the online prerequisite Introduction to the Emergency Medical Response Instructor course.

Successfully complete the precourse skill session.

Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.

Successfully complete class activities, including the required practice-teaching assignments.

Demonstrate instructor-level skill competency in all skills and scenarios.

Successfully pass final written exams with a minimum grade of 80%.
CERTIFICATE ISSUED AND VALIDITY PERIOD
Emergency Medical Response Instructor is valid for 2 years.
