EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONSE
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response course is to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an emergency medical responder (EMR) to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until more advanced medical personnel take over. This course meets or exceeds National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards Emergency Medical Responder Instructional Guidelines.
There are no prerequisites for this program.
56 hours, 10 minutes.
To successfully complete the Emergency Medical Response course, candidate must:
Attend all course activities.
Demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios.
Demonstrate competency in the final skills scenarios.
Successfully pass final written exams with a minimum grade of 80%. If a participant fails to reach the minimum 80% on the final written exam, a retest is allowed using the other version of the exam, provided that the participant has passed the practical assessment.
CERTIFICATE ISSUED AND VALIDITY PERIOD
Emergency Medical Response is valid for 2 years.
