The primary purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma (FAST) Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic- level First Aid for Severe Trauma course.
PREREQUISITES
Candidates must:

Be at least 17 years old on or before the last day of the Instructor Course.

Possess a current basic-level First Aid for Severe Trauma, or equivalent.

Successfully complete the online Introduction to the First Aid for Severe Trauma Instructor Course prior to the precourse skills session.

Obtain all instructor and participant materials before entering the first session of the instructor course.
PARTICIPANTS MUST MEET ALL PREREQUISITES TO TAKE THE COURSE.

Blended Learning: Approx. 2 hours online; 5 hours in-person
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To successfully complete the First Aid for Severe Trauma (FAST) Instructor course, candidate must:

Successfully complete the American Red Cross First Aid for Severe Trauma Instructor course online session.

Successfully complete the FAST skills verification.

Attend and actively participate in the in-person session.

Successfully complete class activities, including the required practice teaching assignments.

Demonstrate instructor-level skill competency in all skills and scenarios.

Pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent
CERTIFICATE ISSUED/ VALIDITY PERIOD
First Aid for Severe Trauma Instructor is valid for 2 years.
