About Aquatic Safety

Aquatic Safety is a proud Top Licensed Training Provider for the American Red Cross (ARC) and offers all the latest courses. To customize training to best meet your needs, we offer a variety certifications in addition from ARC such as the American Heart Association (AHA), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), and Pool Hot Tub Association (PHTA)®. All training is taught to the organization's standards.

The Health & Safety of all participants as well as instructors is our top priority. Our philosophy is to provide the highest quality of training in a safe environment while ensuring every student understands all required material prior to testing. Our courses are hands-on and taught with an energetic and motivating attitude to make every class fun and enjoyable. We have trained a wide range of occupations and personnel in CPR/AED such as surgeons, doctors, professors, emergency employees, babysitters, and parents. We have taught swim lessons for infants entering the water for the first time, kids improving techniques, all the way to adults who never learned how to swim. Aquatic Safety has proudly trained 1988 World Gold Medalist U.S. Olympian, Chris Jacobs, as a Water Safety Instructor!

According to the ARC, Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of out-of-hospital death among adults over the age of 40 with 9 out of 10 victims dying. A victim's chance of survival decreases by 10% every minute CPR is not given. Would you know what to do if someone collapsed in front of you? According to the CDC, nearly 10 people die from unintentional drownings every day, two being children under the age of 14. Drowning is ranked fifth among the leading cause of death in children under the age of 4. At Aquatic Safety, we feel the more residents that are certified in safety training, swim lessons, and water safety, the safer our community will be and the more lives that can be saved, decreasing these statistics.

Meet The Team

Eric Hammermeister-Kahn

U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Eric Hammermeister-Kahn, is the Founder and Owner of Aquatic Safety. Eric has a B.A. in Sports & Recreation Management and a Master's in Organization Management with a specialization in Leadership. Eric has over 20 years of teaching health & safety and is an active NYC 911 EMT. His experience includes Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, and Aquatic Director positions in multiple locations including HI, WA, MT, VA, TN, NJ, and NY.

Eric's goal is to train the community in Health & Safety classes to increase safety awareness and response in the event of an emergency.

Eric is certified as an Instructor and Instructor Trainer for all classes offered by American Red Cross, a PHTA CPO Instructor, and AHA BLS Instructor.

Steven Hammermeister-Kahn

Aquatic Safety, LLC's Lead Instructor, Steven Hammermeister-Kahn, started his Aquatics career in 2013 when he got certified as a lifeguard at the age of 15. Because of Steven's love for the water and passion for kids, he earned his Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. Not stopping there, Steven went on to earn his Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification and his Babysitter's Training certification. As a ballet dancer, Steven enjoys moving to music and achieved his Water Fitness Instructor certification. Steven is a Certified Pool/Spa Operation and also holds certifications as a Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor, Emergency Medical Response (EMR) Instructor, and Responding to Emergencies (RTE) Instructor.

Steven graduated from SUNY Purchase with his degree in Liberal Studies and currently attending grad school at Rutgers University for his MPH.

SamANTHA Yepes

Samantha Yepes has been teaching swimming lessons for over ten years. Her love for swimming started off at an early age joining competitive swimming at 6 years old.

She then discovered her other love for teaching at age 13 when she started to volunteer at the Bridgeport YMCA. At age 16 she attained her Lifeguard certification and continued exploring her love for aquatics and teaching. She now has her Lifeguard Instructor certification, Water Safety Instructor certification as well as her Certified Pool Operator license. Samantha has her Associates degree in Business Administration and is interested in pursuing a career in developing safety around all aquatic activities.

She has developed and run swim lesson programs as well as taught one on one private lessons with both children and adults.

She is excited to be working with Aquatic Safety where her fellow coworkers share the same interests and passion she does for the Aquatic world.

Nico Bauer

Nico Bauer has been teaching with Aquatic Safety for almost a year now. After becoming a certified Lifeguard, Nico realized a passion for the subject, and became a Lifeguard Instructor shortly thereafter.

He has since furthered his education, becoming an instructor in various American Red Cross courses. What started as a passion turned into a dream job.

When he is not teaching, Nico is a full-time student at Tufts University in Medford, MA. He is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
